BOOK YOURSELF - High mountain tops, waterfalls, and deep fjords, with scenic train rides and fjord cruises. The "Sognefjord in a Nutshell" tour is a memorable journey from Oslo to Bergen or reversed. Sognefjord is also called the "King of the Fjords", and it's the longest fjord in Norway. The "Sognefjord in a Nutshell" tour is a variation of the "Norway in a Nutshell" tour. The Sognefjord in a Nutshell tour will allow you to take a longer fjord cruise, that's why I recommend that one during the summer months. The tour is available from late June to mid-August. You will also enjoy the scenic Flåm railway, some say it's the most beautiful train ride in the world. You can do the trip in a day, but I would recommend taking at least two days, with a stay along the way for the best experience. You want to enjoy the fjords, mountains, and beautiful surroundings and not just rush through it. Let's look at your daily program...

2 Days Sognefjord in Nutshell

Itineraries

Day 1

Oslo - Myrdal - Flåm - Balestrand

You will leave Oslo, on the Bergen Railway, and travel to your first stop, Myrdal. From here, you take the famous, scenic train ride to Flåm, via the Flåm railway. From Flåm, you will enjoy a fjord cruise to Balestrand. Here you will spend the night and enjoy some fun activities.

Balestrand offers hiking, biking, cider tasting, fjord cruises, and more.

I highly recommend that you spend the night at the Kviknes Hotel, located right by the fjord. Make sure to stay in the old part of the hotel that has that extra charm to it.

Day 2

Balestrand - Bergen

In Balestrand, enjoy a morning tour in a small RIB boat to discover more of the fjords and its wildlife.

In the afternoon, your journey continues. From Balestrand, you will take a fjord cruise to Bergen.
Arriving Bergen in the evening, have your accommodation booked so that you can go directly to your hotel.
